Might I Suggest The Satin Chaps? Oh God, Yes! I Totally Will.

Hepcats! Dollfaces! Euro a’go-go/Stax soul/Garage rock enthusiasts everywhere! – The Satin Chaps self-released debut full-length Might I Suggest The Satin Chaps is the sock-it-to-you dance-party soundtrack that Ready, Steady, Go! dreams are made of. This LP has enough martini-shaking, sweat-inducing, soul-swagger to make even the most aloof, sideline hipster lose all sense of poker-faced detachment and do the mash potato. Comprised mainly of instrumentals, The Satin Chaps still toss in enough whoops, hollers and boss earworm one-liners (ala the The Capitols’ Cool Jerk or Archie Bell & The Drells’ Tighten Up) to give it that overall sense of “vocals" at play. Formed by drummer Luke Strahota (High Violets) bassist Eric Hedford (Dandy Warhols) and keyboardist Peter Dean (Fast Computers); the trio then added horn section Kyle Haverly and Graham Coslett along with percussionist Tabott Guthrie to complete their hair-raising “soul revue” sound. And believe me, having grown up almost exclusively with guitar-bands, when The Satin Chaps hit the stage and/or your listening device with that swashbuckling wall of horns and gospel-Sunday Hammond organ, it’s like you’ve just been defibrillated, brought back to life and it's far sexier and exhilarating than you ever thought possible. Not to mention have you questioning if you can ever go back to guitar-only bands again. Flashy neckerchiefs, shiny winklepickers and creamy white go-go boots aren’t mandatory attire whilst uncontrollably shakin' and shimmyin' to Portland, Oregon's marital progeny of Booker T and The MG’s and Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass, but The Satin Chaps own natty attire and electrifying, dance-floor shing-a-ling may have you re-thinking your gloomy ol’ skinny jeans just a bit. Go on, check out the track Jump Shout Shake and don't say I didn't warn you.
